7 Surprising Foods You Can’t Bring On Airplanes

Now that classes have ended and summer vacation is up, it is now time to plan trips and enjoy. However, if your planned trip requires traveling by airplane, it is best to know what kind of foods you should and should not bring with you to the plane.

So before you wrap that food up, here are some tips on what foods you can’t and shouldn’t bring on airplanes.

Peanut Butter

Who doesn’t want peanut butter? Surely, not me! But, it is sad to say that peanut butter isn’t solid enough to pass the 3-1-1 rule. Just buy some after you have landed at your destination.

Canned Foods

Canned chili, sauces, soup, and veggies are prohibited on airplanes. Even if it is sealed, it still needs to be checked or you can’t bring that canned food you just bought at an ethnic shop.

Produce

When traveling internationally, most countries ban you from bringing in agricultural products. If you want to bring an apple or an orange as a snack, then you must eat it before you can board the plane, or it could just end up being confiscated.

High-alcohol liquor

Alcoholic beverages over 140 proof or 70% abv are prohibited on planes. Not even a small bottle and not even on your checked baggage. As it is highly flammable and could be a safety hazard.

Cream Cheese

If you want to bring with you a block of cream cheese, make sure to stick to the 3-1-1 rule or it might just end up getting confiscated. I suggest you just bring a stringed cheese instead.

Yogurt

TSA says that you can bring up to 3.4 ounces of yogurt. However, the container MUST be clear and can fit into a ¼ ziploc bag along with other liquids.

Gravy and Most Sauces

According to the TSA, gravy and other kinds of sauces are classified as “liquid” or “gel”. You can bring some, but only up to 3.4 ounces, and with a clear plastic container.
